CANNA Start – Starter Nutrient for Seedlings and Young Plants

CANNA Start is a hydroponic nutrient developed especially for seedlings and plants grown from seed during their early growth stage. It provides young plants with essential nutrients in a balanced form, helping growth start strong and steady from the beginning.

In a SmartGrow system, CANNA Start is suitable for use during the early growth stage with light dosing. In a small circulating hydroponic system, moderate dosing is important to help avoid over-fertilising and to give young plants a healthy start.

CANNA Start is not intended for continuous use throughout the entire growing season, but mainly for the first weeks of seedlings and young plants.

Dosing in a SmartGrow system

The Bosch SmartGrow 3 water tank holds approximately 1 litre. For SmartGrow use, CANNA Start can be used as follows:

1. Shake the bottle well before use.
2. Fill the SmartGrow water tank with clean water.
3. Add 1 ml of CANNA Start per 1 litre of water as a recommended starting dose.
4. Mix gently and start the device as usual.

If needed, the dose can be temporarily increased up to 2 ml / 1 L if plant growth is clearly slow. The manufacturer’s maximum dose of 4 ml / 1 L is not recommended for use in the SmartGrow system.

When to use

• Use CANNA Start only during the early growth stage
• Typical use in SmartGrow is around 1–2 weeks
• Once the plants have clearly rooted, switch to a basic nutrient suitable for SmartGrow or continue according to the device instructions

CANNA Start works like starter food for young plants — it helps support the seedling stage. As the plant grows, its nutrient needs change, and it is then recommended to move on to a regular base nutrient.

Storage and safety

• Store the bottle closed, in a dark place and protected from frost
• Keep out of reach of children

CANNA Start is a useful addition to a SmartGrow starter kit when you want to give young plants a balanced start without a complicated nutrient programme.
