Common lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) is a perennial, beautifully flowering herb that brings fragrance and colour to the garden. Lavender grows best in a sunny location with relatively dry soil.

Sow the seeds in spring in a seedbed or for pre-growing. After about eight weeks, the seedlings can be moved outdoors or planted in pots. Lavender flowers and leaves can be used for herbal infusions, fragrance sachets or as a light culinary herb.
